The start of the week has been a bit of an anti-climax. It was great to hear news that Saudi Arabia is allowing women the right to vote [though they still have to work on the right to drive..].
Yet, while women in the Arabian gulf had a well-deserved win, the African continent had lost a great environmentalist. Few women have come close to Prof Wangari Maathai in terms of sacrifices and achievements for the environment. Nevertheless, she leaves behind a legacy that would inspire all in the pursuit for environmental and social justice.
R.I.P Prof Maathai.
