Happy Australia Day!
Up before sunrise on a public holiday. WHUT?! Cos sometimes you just gotta get things done. Fajr prayers, intercontinental skype calls, reports and thesis. But first, a wholemeal toast with a spread of almond butter and fresh fig. Yes fresh fig. Ditch the jam and have the real thing when you can. Cuppa coffee and…
Blues & Greens for Dinner Downunder
SO…. after a long hiatus of being “in the field” and just trying to make sense of what all that data means for my PhD thesis, I’ve decided to resume blogging. And what better to kick it off again with food! Tonight’s dinner was a random concoction of blues and greens. Chicken salad with blue…
Highs and lows of the week
Ever had one of those weeks where you’re supercharged in the first half of the week then lose steam on the last few days? This was one of them. Started the week totally stoked (and extra early) for a 10-12 chat on air with Genevieve Jacobs of ABC Canberra about religion and climate change. Early…
Beginner Biker’s Weekend Breakkie
Lovely Saturday morning today. Gotta have a hearty breakfast (and use up the veggies in the fridge before they rot!). All set for my bike ride around the lake. Woot! 😀
Happy Anzac Day!
Gotta love public holidays. Best time to sleep in (just a little) and enjoy a bowl of oats and a cup of mint tea. Tai-chee, on the other hand, wants to head out and play.
Singapore-Oman chit chats on a hill
A couple of friends from Oman were in town, so a few of us had dinner at PS Cafe at Dempsey Hill. I opted for the m Miso cod on a bed of roast pumpkin with a side of salad. Lovely and light… and then I had truffle fries (to share!)
Fruits are for all occasions. It doesn’t matter whether it’s (from bottom left clockwise) part of breakfast in a bowl of oats or as a prezzie for new neighbours in a basket, or in a fruit salad for some pals. It’s all good, healthy and yummy. And did I mention the colours?? A real feast…
Met up with Robert from ANU’s School of Art for a chat, and what did I get? A loaf of home-made zucchini bread! Yay! Thanks Robert! Whipped up a quick and easy-peasy lunch with a couple of slices of bread, egg omelette and a side of broccoli and tomatoes tossed in olive oil, salt and…
Dhal Soup Sukses!
Nothing better than a lovely bowl of soup to warm the soul on a chilly evening. This was yet another culinary experiment. With a bit of help from google on how to make a soup out of my family’s standard dhal recipe, it was easy-peasy. Think of a cross between dhal and vegetable soup. And…
Oats for Eyang
Morning oats with fresh fruit and honey, to go with a poor man’s mocha (i.e. Milo + kopi) Made a mini-bowl of oats and fruit for Eyang too 🙂
